Background
Founded in 1973, W. P. Carey provides customized capital solutions to publicly-traded and privately-held companies, developers, private-equity firms, and portfolio companies.

Being a big player in the market for decades, the company was looking to revamp its website and get it in line with the dynamic demands of today's customers. They were running their website on Sitecore CMS with their upgrade due in November of 2020.

After speaking to the Sitecore team, the company realized that they wanted to reduce the server and application maintenance cost by moving to a SaaS platform. They were also looking to maintain the site without managing it in-house.

Additionally, W.P Carey's marketing team wanted an   interactive dashboard that could manage all the UI of the website from a centralized location.  They were also looking to improve customer experience and website UI so as to better the retention value for their brand name and ultimately improve lead conversion via their website.

After carefully listening to their challenges, Altudo suggested that the company move their website to Acquia Cloud, and migrate their digital infrastructure to Drupal to be able to do so.

W.P. Carey wanted to save their costs, so we helped them migrate to Drupal inbuilt multi-site architecture. This enabled them to host two websites having different content and domain, all in one location. With the Acquia cloud (SaaS) and Site Studio integrated with Drupal-8 CMS, the company could now make changes to their website without the need for heavy technical expertise. One of the highlights for them included Site Studio’s drag and drop, an in-line editing tool to make simpler and faster edits.

The reduced complexity of the digital infrastructure, with a faster and more reliable migration helped the company improve its content workflows and findability. It also enabled them to make interactive property data charts accessible to depict information on property details across the globe – segmented by industry, country, volumes, etc. With the successful integration of Acquia's Site Studio with the Drupal CMS, they could implement an interactive dashboard, as per their marketing needs.

The effective migration from Sitecore to Drupal CMS and integration with the Acquia cloud helped W.P. Carey reduce the total ownership cost up to 30%. With both the websites being hosted on a single server, the company also could cut down on the cost of maintenance by a large margin.  The move also enabled them to effectively improve UX & UI of the website and the content workflows to make content more findable and increase accessibility for users.  Additionally, they could support the needs of their marketing team without an in-house infrastructure team, saving them both time and money! The new and improved website also enabled the company to optimize customer experience and bring in more leads.
